Ayaphumuza Auctioneers (“Ayaphumuza”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Information we collect

When you contact us or use our website, we may process your name, email address, telephone number, company details, message content, browsing information and technical information needed to keep the website secure and working. AuctionOps bidder onboarding is handled in My Documents and may require additional identity and supporting documents. Please do not send those documents by ordinary email.

Why we use it

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, provide auction information, administer bidder and seller relationships, support registration and readiness workflows, comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud and protect our systems. We process only information reasonably necessary for these purposes, or with your consent where consent is required. You may withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, but this does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.

Service providers and international transfers

We may use contracted service providers for website hosting, authentication, auction technology, communications and secure bidder operations. They may process information only on our instructions and under confidentiality and security obligations. Some providers may process information outside South Africa; where this happens, we will do so only as permitted by POPIA and with appropriate safeguards.

This public website does not accept payments or store bidder documents. Payment references, readiness information and documents are handled through the applicable authenticated AuctionOps workflow.

Retention and security

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, a legal or operational requirement, or the resolution of a dispute. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. If a security compromise creates a risk of harm, we will notify affected parties and the Information Regulator as required by law.

Your rights

Subject to POPIA and other applicable law, you may ask whether we hold your personal information, request access to it, ask us to correct or delete inaccurate or unlawfully held information, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where applicable. Send a request to info@ayaphumuza.co.za with enough information for us to verify your identity and locate the record. We may need to retain information where the law requires it.

You may also object to direct marketing by electronic communication. We do not sell personal information.
